Creche facility at Delhi University are known as Vaatsalya

Delhi University Women's Association is initiating three kinds of child care programmes to help working mothers to carry out their dual role - at home and at work with an aim to reduce their stress relating to the welfare and well being of their child.  The safety and security of children is a major issue which womens working mothers.  Therefore, all the three programmes aim at providing comfortable, safe and secure environment to the child as well as cater to the individual needs of the young parents. The programmes are as follows:-

1.        Creche (Six months onwards till two and a half years old)

The time of the creche is from 8:30a.m. onwards and it would function up to 5:30p.m. with services available for six days a week (Monday to Saturday)

2.         Day Care (Two and a half year old till twelve years old)

The time of the Day Care provision will be from 8:30a.m. onwards and it will function up to 5:30p.m. with services available for six days a week (Monday to Saturday)

No pick up and drop facility is available for the above programmes.

3.        Usha Ganguli Nursery School (Two & half years onwards)

UGSV aims at giving the child a head start to provide proper foundation and skills essential for academic success and achievements in life.  The school functions from 8:30a.m. - 12:30p.m.


Facilities offered at Vaatsalya - Creche & Daycare Centre

1.     2:1 ratio of Child & Ayah for infants in the age group of 6 months -       1year.

  3:1 ratio of Child & Ayah for infants in the age group of 1year - 2
        years.

2.     Air-conditioned rooms in summer. Comfortable, warm & cozy rooms     in winters.

3.     Green slate for children to scribble with non dust chalks.

4.     Non-toxic toys - Fisher Price, Funskool & Playskool.

5.     Intercom facilities in every room. You can connect to the supervisor and even talk   to your child or leave instructions.

6.     Digital pictures of the kids. On request DVD recording is possible. This is to capture some moments you may miss and may become  part of your treasured collections.

7.     Collection of books for children to read.

8.     Music CDs age appropriate so that children may listen and enjoy.

9.     Nurse on duty. Pediatrician on call from University Health Centre.

10.   Green lawns & open environment to play in winters.

11.    Indoor games & educational toys to keep the children busy and participate in group activities / play.

12.   Children in the daycare will be able to watch animated film in the mini   theatre at least once in two weeks.

13.   Children in the age group of 8 - 10 years can join computer / painting   /music classes on extra payment.

14.   A tutor to support and help children in doing their homework.


GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR PARENTS 

1. All mothers must enroll as members of DUWA. This is mandatory. The annual fee is Rs. 120 (First time). Renewal amount is Rs. 100. They must make an effort to participate in the activities of DUWA. 

2. The list of essential items asked by the Creche Supervisor which will be duly signed by the Convenor of Vaatsalya should be given on time. 

3. In case of the child falling sick or an emergency, the parent must report immediately on receiving a call from the Supervisor / Convenor. 

4. Any child suffering from any contagious / communicable disease, my please be kept 
at home. The child will be allowed to join back only after a medical certificate from 
the doctor. 

5. Parents must attend interactive sessions on parental counseling held from time to 
time, conducted either child psychologist or by the members themselves. 

6. Food should be provided by the parents for Infant care and Creche with diet chart of 
the child. Do not send very spicy food. 

7. All efforts will be made to potty train the child. Parents are requested to follow the 
same at home also. 

8. Mothers wanting to breast feed their child will be allowed twice a day. Please take 
care that you leave the crèche immediately after feeding the child. 

9. No other person will be allowed to pick up the child except the person mentioned i. e. 
either of the parent or person mentioned in the form and whose photo identity is with 
us. 

10. It is mandatory to make entry in the register kept at the entrance while leaving and 
taking the child. 

11. Timings of Vaatsalya are 8. 30 a.m. to 5. 30 p.m. The crèche is open during summer 
and winter holidays. 


Vaatsalya Registration Process

The parents can register the names of their children on the enrollment register at the DUWA office on any of the working days from 10:00am to 2:00pm.  The parents will be intimated and advised to come and complete the registration/enrolment formalities.

 Criteria for Admissions:  Children of working mothers / Women research scholars of the University of Delhi will be given first preference followed by children of other parents.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION

1)     Photocopy of the mother's work place ID

2)     Birth certificate of the child (photocopy)

3)     Medical fitness certificate from doctor

4)     Vaccination profile

5)     Photographs of both the parents

6)     Two photographs of the child.

7)     Any other contact number (besides the parents)

8)     Letter of recommendation from Supervisor / Head of Dept. for     other gazetted officers.

Fee Structure

Monthly Fee                                         Rs. 3,500

Caution Money (Refundable)                  Rs. 3,500

Per Day Fee                                        Rs. 100 (Either 4 days in a month  For eg. Saturdays only OR for a maximum period of 3 days at a time in a month OR for children coming during summer break. If days exceed to the month of July, then in July, fee charged will be Rs. 100 per day but for the month of June it will be monthly fee. (Whichever is applicable)

Fees for siblings availing facility for the first child the fee charged will be the full amount and the second child will be given 50% fee concession 

Late fee:

Parents must pay the monthly fee by 10th of every month. In case of late submission, a late fee of  Rs. 5 (Five) will be charged per day. 

Withdrawal and Caution Money: 

The caution money should be claimed within a period of three months.
